Prof. Abdelkarim Aloweidi

Professor | Jordan

Prof. Abdelkarim Aloweidi is a Professor and Senior Consultant Anesthesiologist in Intensive Care and Pain Management at the School of Medicine, The University of Jordan in Amman- Jordan. He was the previous Chairman of Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care -Faculty of Medicine, The University of Jordan and is the President of The Jordanian Society of Anesthesia Intensive Care and Pain Management. He is a researcher of more than 50 international publications and reviewer for medical journals in Jordan and outside.

Dr. Abhijit Nair

Consultant Anesthesiologist | Oman

Dr. Abhijit Nair, is currently employed as a Consultant Anesthesiologist and Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and ICU at Ibra Hospital, Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman. He has more than 220 PubMed-indexed publications (15 systematic reviews), with more than 1500 citations (h-index 18), and have authored more than 10 chapters in various textbooks. His interests are acute pain, regional anesthesia, perioperative care, and scientific medical writing. Currently, he is a member of the Pain Management Committee of WFSA. He is an associate Editor for Frontiers journals, Cureus Medical Journal, JOACP, and a reviewer for many indexed journals

Prof. Ahmed Shorrab

Senior Consultant Anesthetist | United Arab Emirates

Prof. Ahmed Shorrab is a Senior Consultant anesthetist with more than 30 years of experience. He is currently the head of anesthesia department and director of Surgical Services in University Hospital Sharjah, UAE. He is a professor of anesthesia at Faculty of medicine, University of Mansoura, Egypt and an adjunct professor of clinical sciences in college of medicine, University of Sharjah. Dr. Shorrab has been practicing medicine since 1989 after graduating from Mansoura University in Egypt. He continued his post graduate work in Anesthesiology and went on to complete his Master in Anesthesiology and Surgical Intensive Care from the same university followed by the Doctorate degree in the same field through joint supervision in Mansoura University Hospitals and in Guy’s Hospital, London, UK. He is also holding Diploma of clinical medical nutrition from the European Society of Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition (ESPEN) and a Master degree in Leadership in Health Professions Education from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland RCSI. He published in various medical journals and led many training courses in management of difficult airways, vascular access and procedural sedation. He is also a peer reviewer for many international journals. As a professor of anesthesia and clinical sciences in University of Mansoura (Egypt) and University of Sharjah (UAE), he has mentored and supervised many postgraduate students for Master and Doctorate degrees.

Dr. Amr Hassan

Dr Amr Hassan is a consultant anaesthetist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and the previous head of the Resuscitation Department. He is also a current examiner at the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Educational lead for the East Midlands School of Anaesthesia UK. He completed his anaesthesia training in the UK across the following hospitals (Nottingham University Hospitals, University Hospitals of Leicester, University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Lincoln County Hospital), achieved the Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetist in 2016 before being granted a CCT in anaesthesia. She was recognised by RCoA the Lead Clinician for Difficult Airway Management within UHA. She was the Lead Anaesthetist for Bariatric Service in UHA. She has a well-established record of developing or improving existing guidelines and procedures in peri-operative medicine with a particular focus on enhanced recovery pathways in particular laparoscopic upper GI surgery and orthopaedics. Graduated as a medical doctor in Honduras and completed postgraduate training in Spain, working as an anaesthesiologist, intensivist, and interventional pain physician in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. She served as President of the Honduran Anaesthesia Society and achieved the oximetry gap zeroing in Honduras with the University of Florida. Since 2012, she has represented Latin America on the WFSA council, serving as Chair of the DEI Committee, then as Director of Programs, and currently as President-Elect. As an Assistant Adjunct Professor at UNAH, she teaches interventional pain medicine and promotes WFSA short courses across Latin America, speaking at international meetings.

Dr. Cornelia Weidinger

Dr. med. Cornelia Sabine Weidinger, DESAIC, is a German Board-Certified Specialist in anesthesiology, intensive care, pain medicine, and emergency medicine. Since November 2023, she has been serving as a consultant anesthesiologist at Dubai Hospital. Previously, she gained extensive experience at the University Hospital Erlangen, Germany, where she was a key member of the transplantation team and specialized in cardiothoracic anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, neuroanesthesia, pain management, and emergency care. Dr. Cynthia Olotu

Dr. Cynthia Olotu is a specialist in anesthesiology at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf and leads the research group on geriatric anesthesiology. Her work focuses on perioperative care for older patients, delirium prevention, and postoperative cognitive disorders. She initiated the establishment of the geriatric anesthesia scientific committee within the German Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (DGAI). Dr. Olotu is also a member of the Scientific Subforum Geriatric Patient of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC) and serves on various boards, including the European Delirium Association. Prof. Ralf Krage

Ralf Krage is an Associate Professor of Anesthesia at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) and Consultant Anesthesiologist at Mediclinic in Dubai, UAE. He is also the director of the KHMSC simulation center in Dubai. From 2007 until 2019 he was a Consultant Anesthesiologist and Residency Program Director at the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Between 2019 – 2021 he served as Head of Department of Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine in Neuburg, Germany. His special interests focus on advancing medical education through simulation-based learning, Human Factor issues and airway management training. He has a record of numerous invited presentations on international conferences on Human Factors, patient safety, simulation-based learning and airway management. Since the early 2000's he is promoting simulation-based learning, serving as director of two major simulation centers in Germany and the Netherlands. He is Past President of SESAM (Society for Simulation in Europe) after serving as president between 2013-2015 (EC member 2011-2017) and was vice-president of the DSSH 2011-2016 (Dutch society for Simulation in Healthcare). He graduated and worked at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin for more than 20 years, after which he took up the position of Director of the Department of Anesthesiology at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen of Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg in 2022.
